St. Patty's Day Adventures

Warning: This post makes me look very high maintenance, I promise I am not, and please don't judge me forever.

Does this not look heavenly??

I saw an add for it in Sunday's paper and decided right then and there that we would celebrate St. Patrick's Day this year by enjoying a slice of this pie (especially since it was buy one get one free). So this silly pregnant woman spent the day, pretty low key just trying to get me and P better as I dreamed about how wonderful this piece of pie would be. I know it is silly, but I really did look forward to it all day!

The day consisted of lots of phone calls to the doctors, playing with Parker, thinking about what family traditions I want to start in our home, and using P's new machine that vaporizes Albuteral for what the doctors think is Asthma (one thing I was hoping he WOULD NOT inherit from me). We also had an RA meeting which went well, and the one of our friends was playing in a Hockey Championship game so we decided to go since me and P were finally feeling better. We had a lot of fun. It was a great game and we enjoyed visiting with ward friends. After the game it was still early enough to make a quick trip to Village Inn to get a piece of the pie I had been dreaming about all day!

So we pull up, and it was empty so we sat right down. We were originally just planning on the pie but it had been a long time since we had dinner and we aren't going out on a date this weekend, so we decided to splurge and get some real food too. When we ordered, I INTENTIONALLY told the waiter what Pie I wanted because they ALWAYS run out of the one I want before I get it. He said no problem, put the order in and the waiting game began. He brought our food and our tab, which oddly didn't have the pie on it. I didn't think too much about it since the deal of the day was getting a free slice of pie with any purchase, so maybe that was how they did it. So we finish our meal and we are just waiting for the pie when the waiter walks up and asks, "Have you decided what kind of pie you would like?" I QUICKLY reminded him that we had already ordered the Mint Brownie Blast. He nodded as he then remembered. Right then another waitress walked by and said that they had just ran out. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!?? This was THE ONLY reason we came to Village Inn. I promise you, we DO NOT frequent this place, most certainly not our favorite. We honestly ONLY CAME FOR THAT PIE!

I kindly tried to explain that too him, especially since I had been looking forward to it all day! And I KNEW that this would happen, HENCE me ordering the pie an hour ago! I asked kindly if they could call up to the neighboring Village Inn and see if they had any left so we could redeem them there. He asked the manager, they made the call, and gave us the OK. Now I promise, I am really not this difficult all the time, but I really only made the trip for that piece of pie. I REALLY wanted that pie and I was pretty irritated with the waiter for not putting it in and in a sense saving it for us when we first ordered it. And if they would have been out then, I honestly would have left before ordering anything. lol. I know that kind of sounds bad, but the food there really just isn't very good and not worth it to me. So all in all, I really don't feel bad about it. They made a mistake and then they accommodated my needs, which as their customer I really appreciate. They apologized many times, even for having us drive to the other one to get it which wasn't a big deal to me. And the manager at the other one was super nice and even joked with me about it. So I am so grateful they were willing to do that for me. And let me tell you after now having eaten the slice of pie, SO WORTH IT! I am So glad I spoke up, because the pie was as heavenly as I had dreamed it would be!

I feel a little bad for Jeff, he really hates making a scene. But honestly, when someone messes up, especially when I am a paying customer, I feel I have the right to at least inform them. And weather they do anything after that is up to them obviously, but also as an individual I like to know where I can make improvements and that is kind of how I see it. He just sat there and laughed about the whole thing and said he would mark this one down under a "pregnancy craving" since I never get them.

So you can probably tell that this post is mainly for our memories sake, because even looking back tonight I think it is funny and I want to remember it. But really, I would not have handled it any differently had I the opportunity to go back and do it again (except for maybe skipping the real food and just getting the pie :) But really will be something to laugh at in the future. Hopefully the people at Village Inn don't hate me too much, but I really did handle it very calmly and politely, so there is no reason they should. And even if they did, I think I have been there maybe 2 times in the entire 7 years I have lived here, but after having that pie, I might go more often. It was seriously SO GOOD!!

Anyway, HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!! Hope you day was as memorable as ours. :)

And here is a picture of me and the P-man on St. Patty's Day last year. One of my favorites. It is so hard to believe he was ever that small!!

And I promise, more updates to come soon! I know I have been slacking lately. Both me and Parker have been sick so blogging was one of the last things I felt like doing. But it looks like we are both on the up and up, so hopefully lots of post to come soon!

I love it! :) I totally would've been the same way--plus everyone knows not to mess with a pregnant lady! :) jk

I agree...as a paying customer, you should get what you want and feel you are paying for. Ryan and I will "make scenes" every time something goes wrong... (nicely of course!) :)

I wish I had heard about this pie! I would've tried to track down a piece too! (That is the only thing good at Village Inn!) :) haha

Poor Jeff has been a innocent victim in my "scene-making" at restaurants over the years, and he does hate it, so I'm impressed that he just laughed. Glad the pie was worth it!

The Light of the World

I was asked to give a talk yesterday in church.  Kinda daunting knowing it was Christmas Sunday, but I think it went pretty well.  I like remembering my talk so I'm throwing it up here mainly for my own record.  But maybe it will bless the lives of others too.  I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and that the Light of Christ will be upon you and radiate from you now and forever. Jesus Christ: The Light of the World Rebecca’s talk given on 12/20/2015 Jesus Christ.  Can a topic be any broader? I have spent a lot of time over the last 6 weeks trying to decide what direction I wanted to go and I kept going back to the same thought, Jesus is the light of the world.  This is not an insignificant statement, but very profound and very important.  Let’s start from the beginning. Many Prophets have testified of the fact that Jesus Christ is the light of the world long before the Savior was even born.  The very first sign of his bir...

Because God Love's Us

How is Christ’s Birth Significant to me Talk on 12/20/2020 Good Morning Brothers and Sisters & Merry Christmas!   Heavenly Father must know my preferred method for giving a talk is procrastinating because I have been called to fill in last minute on many occasions.   However, this is the first time it’s happened on Christmas Sunday.   But I am happy to be here with you and I’m so grateful for technology that allows us to meet and worship together, especially during this Christmas season.   I’m not gonna lie, this is weird speaking on zoom.   I much prefer being together and making eye contact with you and seeing your encouraging smiles.   So please bear with any awkwardness I may have.   When initially asked to speak, Brother Smith gave me the topic of “How Christ’s birth is significant to me.”   My initial response was, could that topic be any broader?   But then gratefully he followed it up with “Particularly from the prosp...

Kid's Talks

Riley’s Primary Talk on Baptism 3/15/20 Today I want to talk on Baptism.   Being baptized is a commandment from Heavenly Father.   We have to be baptized to make it back to Him.   Even Jesus Christ was baptized.   If Jesus Christ was baptized we should be baptized too.   When we turn 8 years old we can choose to follow Jesus Christ’s example and be baptized too.   When we are baptized and confirmed we become members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.     If you have already been baptized, you should remember the covenants, or promises you made.   If you have not been baptized, you should study and pray and keep the commandments so that when you turn 8 years old you will be ready. We should all remember how important baptism is.   I am really excited I get to be baptized next year.   In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen Faith Parker’s Talk   2/16/20   Today, my talk is going to be about f...
