Cleaning Checks & Concerts

Some of you know that Jeff and I are Residential Assistants (RAs) for our apartment complex. Part of our responsibility as RAs is to do the monthly cleaning checks. This is definitely not our favorite part of the job, but worth the time and effort. Being that Parker recently joined our family, it added a new challenge to doing the checks. We got this awesome carrier from my aunt so we decided to put it to use so I could have my hands free. It works great and is super comfy. Unfortunately, Utah decided to have another cold spell so we bundled Parker up in this cute bear outfit Great-Grandma gave him. After we got him bundled up and and in the carrier, Jeff looked at me and just laughed . . . this is why: It looks like I'm caring a stuffed animal! But what a cute stuffed animal he is! He was such a trooper and pretty much slept the whole time. What a guy! Less Than Jake Concert On a completely separate note, this week was a rough one for Jeff in regards to school. Just t...

3 Weeks Already!

I honestly cant believe that it has been 3 full weeks! Time flies! Things have been going really well. It helps that he is a perfect baby and hardly ever cries. However when he does cry, this is how I feel: Everyone said it would all come so naturally, and for the most part it really has. I have yet to learn to distinguish between his cries. I'm hoping this "Mother's Intuition" will kick in soon because it makes me so sad when he does cry. As for an update, Parker is doing great! We had a follow up appointment today because at his two week check up he was still a pound under his birth weight. But today he had gained 7 oz in one week! I'm so relieved! We haven't taken as many pictures as i'm sure the family would like, but here is Parker after a bath. I love these hooded towels, so cute!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I know this is a little late, but this picture of Parker is too cute not to post. His shirt says "Kiss Me I'm Irish" Hence my silliness. But look how adorable his face is!! I love it! Hope everyone had a great St. Patrick's Day! Here it is zoomed in, even better!

Sleeping Through the Night

So my 2 week old son is sleeping 6 hours at a time. Pretty amazing eh? To bad the doctor asked me to wake him up every 2-4 hours to eat. Just seems sick and wrong! So much for sleep. Hopefully he will gain weight soon so I can stop this non-sense.

Part Four - Hospital Stay

Again, I'm writing this one now a year later, but I do want to have it down for the record. I was really impressed with the hospital and how well they took care of us. Even the food was great! They had an awesome system where your nurse had a phone on her and you could call her anytime you needed. It was wonderful! We kept our little guy with us during the day and let the nursery watch him at night. Many people encouraged us to do this, as it probably would be our last full nights rest. The nurse still came in and woke me up when He was ready to eat, but it really was our last worry free night which was nice, especially as my body was SOOOO exhausted! We had so many loved ones come visit us, which was really nice. My Parents arrived a few hours after he was born and many friends came to meet our little guys too. It was so fun. I honestly have zero complaints about our stay which is one reason I am so bummed that I have to deliver this next baby at a different hospital. Bu...

Part Three - Delivery

Well, i'm now writing this 1 year after the fact, and to be honest, I dont remember very much. The nurse came in and got me started. I was a little worried thinking, shouldn't the doctor be in here to receive? But it takes a while so I learned. After she got us going and taught Jeff how to read the monitor she also left. Jeff and I kinda looked at each other, both kinda scared because neither of us knew what was going on. She said she would be back before I had another contraction however, she missed 3 or 4! Jeff was great and helped me push. It was just crazy to both of us that now I was in actual labor and everyone left us alone like we knew what we were doing. It was funny. So the nurse came back and helped us for about 30 more minutes. It was funny, because of my second epidural and my legs being completely numb, i could not hold them up on my own. You are supposed to pull them up to your chest, and I literally could not! I had to have the help of Jeff and the Nurse. The ba...

Part Two - Labor

Lucky for us, the hospital is only one block away. We arrived at about 10:00 pm. At this point, although I was feeling contractions, I was still feeling pretty good. Instead of having Jeff drop me off, I told him to park and we could go in together. I didn’t want to be sitting there by myself, plus walking felt good. So we park and head on in. Since it was late there was a security guard outside the elevator with a sign that read “Check In” as it pointed to him. As we started to walk toward him he just said, “WOW, Keep Going!” We laughed and headed right up the elevator. Randomly one of my friends Dustin was standing outside the elevator, we said hi but obviously made our way up to labor and delivery. By the time we got all checked in and to our room it was about 10:30. A nurse came in and got me all situated. Since my water never truly broke, they needed to test the fluid to make sure. First they did a little pH swab. Although the nurse was pretty sure it was amniotic flu...

The Story of Parker's Birth - Part one - Pre-Labor

(So I was going to write this out twice. A super detailed one for my records, and a less detailed one for all inquireing minds on here. But that is way to much work and time. So this will be the full on story with everything I can remember. Feel free to skim, skip, read, or not, it will be rather long. But I know there are a few people who want to know every detail so here you go! ) Part One - Pre-Labor Monday, March 2 nd was a rough day for me. It started out fine, aside from the pains of being almost 40 weeks pregnant. I went to work and got a lot done, but was pretty antsy for my appointment that afternoon. I had imagined that I had made so much progress and was positive they would tell me I was dilated to at least 3cm. So I showed up at the doctors and to my disappointment, I was pretty much where I was last week. Still only 1 cm and 80% effaced. He also hadn’t dropped very much either. The doctor wanted me to schedule an ultrasound ASAP so we could have a ...
