SCORE!

So today our church had a special meeting, it was Invitation Sunday.  It has been in the works for MONTHS.  The goal was for everyone to go out and invite their neighbors, colleagues, friends and family to attend church with them today.  They planned a special meeting outlining the main doctrines we believe.  They called a few speakers to take 3 to 5 minutes and speak on the topic they were given outlining what they felt to be the most basic and important parts of that doctrine and I was one of the speakers chosen.   They asked me to speak on The Family.  Oddly, I was not nervous at all, in fact I was quite excited.  The family is my thing.  I have such love for families, and the doctrine of it and it is something I really want to shout to the world every day.  And they gave me an opportunity to do so.  The hardest part was narrowing it down to 3-5 minutes.  If you know me, I have the  tendency  to get on a soap box ...

So this year we decided to do our little mommy preschool again.  The kids really loved it last year so we were really excited to do it again a little more in depth this time.  To be honest, last year was a little more like a themed playgroup.  Yes, we talked about letters and had a theme, but the kids were 2 years old.  I do still think they learned, but they also had fun a played lots.  It went a lot differently then I was planning.  But this year we are all another year older and another year wiser and it seems like the kids really are excited about school and learning.  This year we are a little more structured, it last a little longer (2 hrs twice a week), and we are also working on more fine motor skills and not just letters and numbers. Em is obsessed with Rapunzle and that would be how she says long, long hair.  She has heard a few random strangers comment on how much hair she has especially for her age & size and so now anytime she thinks about hair (which is about a million times a day) she says: "I have yong, yong hair like Rapunzle."  It makes me laugh every time. It wasn't too long ago that I too had long, long hair; I generally wore it in a pony tail and it looked a little to similar to an actually pony's tail so I decided it was time for a chop.   I debated a long time on how to cut it, but here's the thing... I love my hair.  I love long hair.  My hair is in a pony/messy bun 95% of the time.  I do not spend more than 2 minutes max on my hair 29 days out of 30.  So simple it was.  Basically just took off some length and kept some layers.  Doesn't look like much from the front view but if you compare the back view you can really see how much I took off...

So a while ago, like the end of April/beginning of May, we decided it was time for a new bed for the kids.  The crib we had was missing pieces so it could not be lower and Em could get out.  She could also get out of the pack-n-play.  P's bed was actually one of my in-laws spare beds that we took with us when we moved out.  We decided to start the search. There was a bed at IKEA that I thought would be perfect. This bed to be exact.   I had seen it for years and always liked it.  We would make it a loft bed and throw a mattress down below for Em.  We finally decided we needed to just go and get it.  So the night before I decide to check out, good old Craigslist just to see what was on there and I came across this awesome bed!  You know, like one of those beds you dream about getting for your children but never will because they cost so much money.  One like this  or l ike this under my "Dream Home" pinterest boa...

I know, I know ... I am quite behind in my blogging, but today I actually want to talk about A specific behind .  Em's behind to be exact.  I have been debating potty training this girl for months now.  Anytime I think she is ready I come up with a reason she is not, IE: I am not ready.  But after a little incident today I think I cannot postpone it anymore. It actually starts a couple of days ago at my parents.  Em was tooting quite a bit and I kept asking her if she needed to go potty.  She would just giggle and say no.  The tooting continued and then she finally told me she was going to go.  I told her to wait and run to the bathroom so she could use the potty.  She got very excited so I picked her up and RAN!  She made it just in the nick of time!  She was so excited!  She came running out of the bathroom telling everyone there that she just pooped in the potty.  She was very proud and VERY excited about he...
