Two And A Half: A much needed reminder

Two And A Half Hold him a little longer Rock him a little more Tell him another story (you've only told him four) Let him sleep on your shoulder Rejoice in his happy smile He is only two and a half For such a little while! I found this a little while ago on pinterst and it was exactly what I needed to hear. My patients with my little guy has been practically non-existent lately which I feel horrible about. I don't know why, but he really has been driving me nuts. It is such a weird phase for me because I think it is my favorite and least favorite stage all at the same time. He is so smart, silly, helpful, and fun but he has also really started whining a lot and has been quite emotional and needy. After reading this again and again I realize maybe he is acting this way because I am not giving him as much one-on-one as he needs right now. It is hard because Em really does require a lot from me still physically, emotionally, and mentally. I keep telling myself "P ...

The Big One-Five

That's right, this little girls is 15 months old!! Can you believe it? I sure cant. This age is especially significant for me because when P was this age she was already born. It is so hard for me to remember P at this age. She still seems like such a baby to me, but he seemed like such a big boy. I seriously can not imagine even being pregnant right now, let alone already having another infant in our home. It just blows my mind. I am so grateful for her. I am so grateful for the time she came. It is amazing to me how her and P are already best buds. They also already fight like a brother and sister. I thought this wouldn't happen for a few more years... I was quite wrong. He pushes her, she pulls his hair, she hits him, he hits her. It goes on and on and she is usually the instigator. I'm telling you, she is going to keep me on my toes! But then you look at this sweet adorable face ... and it melts your heart and makes you want to love her all day long! ...

There is Hope

Well, today I went on my first real run in probably 5 years. I'm not exaggerating. I am pretty proud of myself and am feeling a little more hope in regards to the events I have coming up in a few short weeks. Today I ran 1.5 miles with only one little water break for me and the kids. Then I turned around and ran/walked the second 1.5 miles back. I was pooped to say the least, but I did it! Two of my 3 legs are only 3 miles so if I could do 3 miles today while pushing a double jogging stroller (for the first time ever mind you, p.s. I think my arms are more sore than my legs) then I can totally do it! I'm a little sore, and I'm sure it will be worse tomorrow, but I have some hope which is good because yesterday I was REALLY freaking out. I think I can, I think I can!

See Rebecca Tri

Well, today I just committed myself for a Sprint Triathlon and also a Ragnar Relay . I am Super excited, but also SUPER scared. You see, the last time I ran more than 1 block was .... most likely over 3 years ago. These races are one month from today. Just to give you a heads up of what these races entail, Ragnar is a 200 mile race that is split up between 12 people. You run for a day and a night relay-style, one at a time while the rest of your team cheers the runner on in a van. Each runner will run 3 legs of the race. Apparently while your not racing it is a non stop party in the van. I hope that is the case. It does sound like a blast, I am super excited! See Jane Tri is a sprint Triathlon. Starts with just a 400 meter swim which is super easy if you have ever been on a swim team. Then a 13 mile bike ride. My only problem here is we do not have a bike. And then ends with a 3 mile run. After Ragner , this should be a piece of cake. . . I hope! Sounds easy enoug...

Stay-cation

So Jeff was able to take a week off a couple of weeks ago. I have a TON to say about it, but for now Just thought I'd put up a few pictures until I have more time to blog. The highlight of the week was going to The Children's Discovery Museum. We got free passes from the Library, which I'm grateful for because it rather expensive ($11 a piece starting at age 6 months!) The entire place is made for children ages 6 months to I think about 5 years old. It was AMAZING! Seriously, if we lived closer I would get a season pass and take the kids at least once a week because it seriously was that great! Hopefully we can go again soon. The kids L.O.V.E.D it! But I'll do an entire post on it another day. They had so many different things for the kids to do from playing in a stream with fish and frogs, to climbing on things, and even painting on the walls. There really is even so much more than that, but again I'll do another post on it. For now, trust me ... it ...

To train or not to train?

That is the question! So P's best bud just recently got potty trained . I have had a toddler potty for almost a year now, unfortunately it has been used as a toy more than a potty. It hasn't been until recently that P has started to show interest, but not really. He thinks it is just fun to sit on the potty and not do anything. We could spend a good 20 minutes just getting on and off the potty, and he would be smiling the whole time but no actual business taken place. The thing is, Em is now officially in the appropriate age range to potty train too. And in some ways she seems more ready than P does. For instance, she actually cares when she has a soiled diaper, where P would be perfectly content running around all day soaked AND stinky. I'm really not looking forward to this phase of parenthood and actually have no desire to do it to be quite honest. Recently I have been thinking about how great diapers actually are. I mean, once my kids are not in diapers...

Hobby turned Pro

Ok, just kidding, but maybe someday. So about a month ago a friend of mine asked me if I would be willing to make her sister's wedding cake. After my initial heart-attack , I asked her if she was sure. I am BEYOND amateur , I just like to make them for fun. Apparently they were confident enough from pictures my previous cakes and were on a tight budget so I said I would be happy to. I did it for free because I just did not feel good about charging for something I had never done before, ESPECIALLY for someones wedding! I was excited and nervous all at the same time. About a week before the wedding I made this practice cake (pictured below). This was my first time ever doing this technique, so I would say not too shabby for the first time, but DEFINITELY room for improvement . The bride came to see it that night and was pleased. I told her what I had learned and what I will do differently next time and she was more confident in me than I was! Well, the wedding was today. It ...
