Our 4th of July was tons of fun this year. We started it off nice and early but watching our city's 5K. We had some friends that were running it and wanted to go cheer them on. Lucky for us the route went right by our house so we literally sat on our lawn as we cheered on the hundreds of people that ran by. It was so much fun!
I think P was amazed at how many people just kept coming and coming.
He kept asking if he could run too.
When our friends ran we cheered them on. 3 of them even placed and got medals. It was so fun, especially for the kids to see their friends running by.
After the fun run, we headed over to my folks for a little 4th of July get together. There were a few couples from the ward and our families. The food was great, the company was fun, and they even set off some fireworks. The kids loved it!
A local church in our city puts on this fun program called the Singing flag. Jeff and I hadn't been in years and the kids had never been so we decided to join our friends and attend this year. Since we new it was going to be a late night we really hoped the kids would fall asleep in the car, which they did. Sweet Em slept a while on my baby belly which she greatly needed.
Family Picture, ready for the show to begin!
I really wasn't sure how the kids would do. It was a long program, almost 2 hrs, and although we had great seats it is still kind of far for a little kid. But from the moment it started they were glued! They loved it. They did so much singing and dancing along with the songs. P even was fighting right along with the Pirates of the Caribbean & Star Wars. It was so fun to watch them enjoy it so very much.
Their faces just glowed the entire time. They were so excited to see what was going to happen next.
Our friends got snow cones and were nice enough to share with us. Needless to say, the kids loved that!!
Em spent most of the time sitting with our buddies instead of me and Jeff.
p.s. her legs are ALWAYS crossed, it cracks me up!
This was P's reaction to seeing a Real Life SPIDERMAN!
I think it made his dreams come true.
Our friends were kind enough to put down a blanket for us, so the kids got to sit right next to their friends. It was so much for to watch them get excited together. They loved pointing things out to each other, acting along to the different scenes, fighting off the bad guys (as pictured above), and singing along.
All 4 kids were having their own little dance party. I loved it!
At one point they let off a massive amount of balloons, the kids thought that was pretty awesome.
They even gave us glow sticks while we waited for the fireworks. We really lucked out when it comes to friends! Here is an attempted group shot of the 4 little amigos. (At least one is looking in the right direction.)
And then Boom Boom Boom! The fireworks began. To be honest, most of the show was pretty boring because they were only shooting one off at a time. Finally at the finale it got exciting. My friend Laura took these awesome shots.
And this was P's face as he watched with excitement.
It was a super long day, but it was an awesome day! I love that it was filled if friends, family, fun and of course food. The kids are at such a fun age for holidays, everything is so exciting to them and in turn so much more exciting for me. I sure am the luckiest lady in the world to be blessed with such an awesome family. Can't wait to see what kind of personality this new bundle of joy will have.
Hope you had an awesome 4th of July.
God Bless America!
