The thing about Motherhood is that it is
the greatest job in the world.
Sometimes it is about being silly.
Sometimes it is about giving smiles.
And sometimes it is about watching smiles be given.
Sometimes it is about doing hard things.
But those hard things are ALWAYS, ALWAYS worth it.
Sometimes it is about playing.
Sometimes it is about listening.
And sometimes it is just about watching.
Sometimes it is about creating.
Being a co-creator with God even.
It is about love.
It is always, always, ALWAYS about love.
And sometimes it is about poop.
I have been thinking about my amazing kiddos lately.
Like really really thinking about them.
I would be lying if I didn't say I am scared for the future.
The more I hold and snuggle Riley, the more I realize how simple and perfect babies are.
They are sent to us straight from heaven.
I love how I truly can fix all her problems so quickly and so easily.
Feed, change, snuggle.
That is it.
Things really are so simple and perfect and I am cherishing every single moment.
The big kids on the other hand... not so simple anymore...
and they are only 3 & 4 years old!
I can only imagine what middle & high school is going to be like.
I can't just fix all their problems.
They are starting to make their own choices,
which also means they are starting to make their own mistakes.
I try so hard to warn them, to help them make the right choices,
but in the end, it is up to them.
And it pains me when they make a wrong choice and get hurt.
Sometimes a hug isn't enough anymore to make it all better.
I can only imagine how our Father in Heaven feels.
I can see all the warnings He gives.
All the tools He provides to ensure our happiness.
I can feel his heartache when we choose not to heed those warnings,
or use those tools he provided.
I can imagine how tempting Lucifer's plan was to Him.
I mean, it ensured that all of His children would return home to Him.
Isn't that what we as parents want most, to be with our families forever?
How hard it must have been to that pass up!
I'm not sure I could have.
But He knew better.
He knew that we need to learn on our own.
That we needed to have successes and failures.
That we needed to have joy and sorrows.
But watching your kid have those is no easy thing.
Again, my kids are only 0, 3, & 4.
It is going to get worse.
Much worse.
What do we do as mothers when a hug isn't enough anymore?
When you can't just kiss it better?
When you can't just wipe that poop off?
Being a mother truly is the best job in the world.
But it also is the hardest job in the world.
Physically & Emotionally.
I'm glad that I still have time to learn how to deal with the big problems that will surely come.
I will give them all the tools and warnings I can and then I'll send them on their way.
I'll make sure they know I am always here for them.
And pray all the time for them.
And for now, I'll just cherish every time my hugs, kisses, and wipes are enough.
