Fast Trains & Big Trees

Back in the beginning of May my parents wanted to take us on a little day trip to check out an awesome steam engine in Santa Cruz.  We found a day (May 8) and hopped in G & G's car and headed out to the Santa Cruz mountains.

Roaring Camp


This place was so much cooler than just a train ride.  There were tons of things to do.  A school was there on a field trip and they had little activities and stations set up all over.  Gold panning, old games, spinning wheels, and much more.  They had workers at each station that were all decked out in sweet costumes to play the part of their station.  It was awesome!  I would have totally loved it when I was in elementary school.  P & Em were still a little young to appreciate all the talking that went along with the activities but they had a BLAST running around and exploring what Roaring Camp had to offer. 






The kids loved those these things!  After a little exploring we heard the conductor shout "All Aboard!!"


We hopped on and were ready to go!  This train went up through the redwoods in the mountain.  


It was beautiful!  I love the Redwoods!


When we got to the top we got to get off and explore some more.


The kids especially loved climbing on the massive tree trunks.  
And showing off their muscles.


They loved it!

When we got back we had some lunch and then Grandma treated us to an Ice Cream!  This was P's first time ever having his very own Ice Cream Cone.  He picked pink of course and he loved it!  The lady we bought them from even gave Em her own little mini


He loved it so much he didn't even mind the fact that it was making a HUGE mess.  He is my clean child.  Anytime he even has a drop on his finger he flips out and asked to wash his hands.  This was dripping all over him, his clothes, and the ground.  I was glad I had extra clothes in my bag because his shorts were seriously SOAKED with melted ice cream.  


It was an awesome day!  I know that the kids really loved it and Grandpa did to!  :)  While we were headed out to the car P was running and tripped and somehow managed to fall with his tongue sticking out.  When he stood up it was COVERED in dirt.  I'm still not quite sure how he managed to do that, but as a result he learned how to spit water.  A skill I was hoping to wait a little longer to teach him, lol, but it at least cheered him up.


Anyone know of any other cool trains near by?
We love trains!

Kid's Talks

  Riley’s Primary Talk on Baptism 3/15/20 Today I want to talk on Baptism.   Being baptized is a commandment from Heavenly Father.   We have to be baptized to make it back to Him.   Even Jesus Christ was baptized.   If Jesus Christ was baptized we should be baptized too.   When we turn 8 years old we can choose to follow Jesus Christ’s example and be baptized too.   When we are baptized and confirmed we become members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.     If you have already been baptized, you should remember the covenants, or promises you made.   If you have not been baptized, you should study and pray and keep the commandments so that when you turn 8 years old you will be ready.
