 Riley’s Primary Talk on Baptism

3/15/20

Today I want to talk on Baptism.  Being baptized is a commandment from Heavenly Father.  We have to be baptized to make it back to Him.  Even Jesus Christ was baptized.  If Jesus Christ was baptized we should be baptized too.  When we turn 8 years old we can choose to follow Jesus Christ’s example and be baptized too.  When we are baptized and confirmed we become members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 

 If you have already been baptized, you should remember the covenants, or promises you made.  If you have not been baptized, you should study and pray and keep the commandments so that when you turn 8 years old you will be ready. We should all remember how important baptism is.  I am really excited I get to be baptized next year.

Faith

Parker’s Talk  2/16/20

 Today, my talk is going to be about faith. Faith is believing without seeing, it is trusting without proof. When we look at a seed and plant it into the ground, we believe it will grow.  In Alma 32 verse 21 it is says: “Therefore if ye have faith, ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true.” In the Book of Mormon, my family has been reading about Nephi.  He had to have faith when his father told him that they had to leave Jerusalem. He also had to have faith when he went back for the plates of brass. 

We have faith in God and Jesus even though we don’t see them.  The more we believe, or have faith, the more God blesses us and helps our faith grow.  We pray to God because of our faith, then when our prayers are answered so our faith grows. 

I bare my testimony that if you have faith in Jesus Christ you be blessed. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Today my talk is about how “as we follow the commandments, we will be prepared for the second coming.”

 On October 6 1984, President Spencer W. Kimball said “Life gives to all the choice...You can be common, ordinary, dull colorless; or you can… be clean, vibrant, progressive, useful, and colorful.”

But the choice is up to us. We are able to be whatever we want to be. But we need to decide now. Each thing we do, determines part of what we are going to be. Each choice we make, draws us closer, or farther to Christ.

In john chapter 14 verse 15, it says “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”

It does not matter what age you are, if you are 1-101, you still need to keep the commandments.

 Keeping the commandments also helps us prepare for Christ’s second coming. Some other things that help prepare are, obedience and love. We must obey our parents and teachers. And we must love everyone. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

I Can Show My Love for Heavenly Father by

Being Grateful for My Blessings

Parker’s Talk on 5/19

Today I was asked to speak on how I can show my love for Heavenly Father by being grateful for my blessings. In Matthew 22 a man asked Jesus, “Master, which is the great commandment in the law?” Jesus said to him, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all they soul, and with all they mind.  This is the first and great commandment.” There are many ways we can show our love for Heavenly Father, one of the most important ways is by being grateful for our blessings.

One of the ways we can show our love to Heavenly Father is by praying.  When we pray we should thank Him for our blessings. Another way we can show gratitude is by being obedient. Living His commandments shows that we love Him and want to be with Him again. We can also show our love to Him is by loving others.  Caring for each other shows we care for him.

King Benjamin said: “O how ye ought to thank your heavenly King!” I hope we can all show our love to Heavenly Father by doing these thing and I know if we do we will be happy and so will Heavenly Father.  I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

The Light of the World

 Today I will talk about how we can be a light for the world.

In Matthew 5:14-16 it reads: (show picture after “Neither”)

 “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

I like this scripture because it teaches me that if we are kind to others, it is shining out light.  Christ asks us to shine our light by being an example to others.  There are lots of things we can do to be an example such as: being honest, respecting our parents and others, and choosing the right.

I know that I can be a light to my family and friends by being kind and treating others how I want to be treated. I know when I do this it is making my Heavenly Father happy. I hope you can shine your light for others too.

Heavenly Father Hears and Answers our Prayers

My talk is about prayer. I know heavenly father hears and answer our prayers but he answers our prayers in many different ways.  In The Book of Mormon the Brother of Jared gives us a great example of this.  When the Lord asked him to build the barges he had 3 question. 

1.   How will we get air?

2.   How will we guide the ship?

3.   How will we have light?

Heavenly Father answered 3 questions in 3 different ways.

1.   For how will we get air?  Heavenly Father just told him the answer, which was to put plugs in both sides of the ship. 

2.   For how will we guide the ship?  Heavenly Father told him to have faith and that He would guide the ship where it needed to go.

3.   For how will we have light?  Heavenly Father told the brother of Jared to come up with a solution on his own.

I know Heavenly Father loves us and wants to help us by answering our prayers.  We need to follow the brother of Jared’s example.  Sometimes we will need faith.  Sometimes we will need to figure it out on our own.  And sometimes He will just tell us.  No matter what kind of answers we get we should thank our Heavenly Father for listening and helping us.

Emily’s Talk 3/25/18

 I love Jesus. He is my friend. He is your friend too. He helped many people when He was on earth. He healed people who were sick. He made the blind man see, and the crippled man walk. Jesus did all these things because He loved the people.

 When Jesus suffered in the garden and on the cross, He did it for us. He took upon himself all the sins of the world, He died, and was resurrected so we could be forgiven of our sins. He made is possible to overcome both physical and spiritual death. Jesus is our Savior.
