Hotel Home: Week 2

Monday - May 28

The drive back went pretty well.  We decided to stop just outside of Pismo because the kids were getting restless. We ate some food and stocked up on snacks at Walmart then hopped back in the car and finished the trip.  We checked into the hotel and then decided to hit up the Pismo Beach Outlets for the Memorial Day sales.  I got a couple of casual shoes since my current ones had holes in the toes but that was the extent of our purchases.  The kids were loving all the kid coin operated rides though.  I don't know what I'll do once they realize they actually move.  Until that day, I will soak up all the fun they have with it stationary.  lol.  This was also the night that I realized my wallet was not where it should be.  I figured it just got thrown in one of our bags or the car.  So i started cleaning out the car while Jeff got the kids ready for bed.  No luck, it must be in one of our bags.

Tuesday - May 29

Since we had a pretty intense and busy weekend I decided to have the first day back at our "Hotel Home" low key.  We went out to breakfast at this AMAZING cinnamon roll place with Jeff's team and then we walked to the beach and spent some time there.  The kids loved it, of course.  Then we headed back to the hotel, watched a few kid shows while I searched our bags for the wallet.  We discovered Sid the Science Kid, which P loved and he also liked Word World and Super Why.  We probably played some ladder Ball and Croquet and walked around the hotel a little; like I said, we laid pretty low.  Then we met up with daddy for dinner at a place called Jocko's. This place was SWEET!  Can I just say 30 oz Filet!  Seriously, I didn't even know Filet's came that big.  Jeff and I split it since it was so huge.  You can go outside and check out the BBQ.  The kids called it "going to see the fire."  P loved it, Em was scared to death of it.  To this day anytime she sees a fire she brings it up.  lol.  Not the most flavorful piece of meat I've ever had, but it was super tender as a filet should be and for the price and the amount of food they give you, it was awesome!  I am totally going back!

Wednesday - May 30

Another low key day.  We Played games, watched a couple shows and went to our favorite park in Pismo.  We ended the day with Dinner with daddy at a pace called Steamers.  I got yet another filet, what can I say, I love my meat.  This one was about a quarter of the size of the last one, but it also was one of the most flavorful pieces of beef I have ever had.  Seriously, SO delicious.  I was talking about it all night.  lol.  I am kind of a beef connoisseur and a good piece of meat seriously makes me so happy.  Weird, but true.  Nothing beats a good steak.  Anyway, all in all, another great day!

The wind picked up and I left all our stuff in the room so I gave her my sweater...
which all of the sudden made me feel HUGE.

Thursday - May 31

This was our most adventurous day of the week.  (Sadly I have no pics of it)  We headed to a nearby town called Arroyo  Grande.  We went for a little stroll along a pretty creek path and then headed into the Library for story time.  Their story time lady was AWESOME.  We loved it and also got some great ideas for new books to read.  They also had a great kids area with TONS of puzzles.  It was great!  We then headed down the road to get an Ice Cream which was delicious.  (Side note: I don't really know what to do with my 3 year old.  No matter what I do, there is always a tantrum.  Here I was trying to be a nice mom and treat my kids to something special, I let them pick their own, I let them do everything, and yet we still had a crazy meltdown in the ice cream shop. It makes me not want to do fun things.  Any advice is welcome.)

We then headed across town to another kids discovery museum.  This one was more science based so my kids were a little young to really get the full experience but the still had fun trying out all the experiments.  It didn't take up as much time as I was expecting so we drove around until we found a local park.  We found an awesome one close by.  The parks there are so much cooler than ours!  This one was like a huge pirate ship, so cool!  We ate lunch and played until we had no energy to play anymore.  This was also where I found out my wallet was found!  :)  Happy Day!!  Then we loaded up and headed back to the hotel for naps.

We woke up just in time to meet daddy for dinner.  After all the big meals we decided to hit up subway for dinner.  Then despite the fact that daddy needed to work late we convinced him to go swimming with us. It was so fun and really meant a lot to the kids.  I think it was hard for them to understand why daddy had to work while we were out having so much fun.  They had been asking to go swimming with him all week.  The poor guy had to stay up until 1 am working but I think it was worth it.

Friday - June 1

Our last day in Paradise!  After 2 weeks of pure fun I was so sad for it to come to an end!  You would think one would be ready to be home, but really the kids were great which meant I was great!  The change of scenery was good for all of us.  We did miss our grandparents and friends, that was the only really happy thing about leaving.  So the last day we obviously had to spend the day at the beach.  I did most of the packing the night before so just a few odds and ends in the morning and we were ready to check out.  As we went to check out P asked if we could play ladder ball one more time, so we did.  He seriously loves that game!  So we played and then loaded up and headed to downtown Pismo.  We didn't really spend any time there this trip so I thought the kids would enjoy walking around, seeing the pier, and of course going to the beach.  We probably spent about 3 hours there.  We were so lucky with weather this year, it was beautiful all week.  This was the worst day and it still wasn't too bad, just really windy.  When we got word that daddy was done with work, we headed back to the car to meet up with him.  The kids were so sad.  They really didn't want to leave the beach and their "Hotel Home" which they kept telling me over and over again.  To this day, not a day passes without one of them asking to go back.  I guess that means they enjoyed it as much as I did.

Love my little wave chasers

Yay for more awkward posses.
I hate asking strangers to take pics but not as much as I hate not having pics so I guess it will have to do.

I wrote this and snapped it as fast as I could because the kids kept destroying it.
I think this was attempt 6.

Wrestling is our new favorite thing.

And Em always starts it.

O Heavens!  I love these kids!

And I love that they love each other!
Man, my life is so good!  It feels good to get that all down for the records.  Lots of fun times.  We are so lucky we had this opportunity and that it all worked out so perfectly.  I can honestly think of no better way to kick off summer.  I am so ready for next year!  :)

What to pack . . .

So now that he really could come ANY DAY I figured it was probably time for me to pack my bag. I of course have one of those "What to bring" checklist, but I was wondering what your thoughts where. Is there anything you wish you had brought but didn't? Is there anything you would have died without if you hadn't brought it? I'm just so clueless! A few tips from you experienced mothers would be greatly appreciated!! I cant believe it is so close!!

Have you noticed?

I need a haircut ASAP! This is me saying, "I'll smile if you ignore my hair." Don't get me wrong, I am really excited I have long hair, I love having long hair , but it needs a little TLC. It has been a few months since I have even got a trim and I am still re-couping from a not so good hair cut. The last few times I have really CUT my hair, not just a trim, I was not pleased with the results. Now it would probably help if I was willing to pay more than $10 for a hair cut . . . but I'm Mrs. High Pockets as my father calls me and it is really hard for me to spend money on my hair. So I need your help! What do you think I should do? Before you make any suggestions you should know: It MUST be able to go back into a ponytail!!!!!!! My hair is STICK STRAIGHT My hair will not curl to save my life (via over night curls, hot curls, even curling irons, they just don't work) I want and need something EASY! I do not like to spend time on my hair and I don...

No Use Crying Over Spilled Milk . . .

So being an emotional pregnant woman is definitely taking its tole on both me and Jeff (what a wonderful, patient, and understanding man he is). Saturday morning I was so excited because for the first time in weeks we actually had a morning together. I had planned to make us a delicious breakfast just like my dad always did for me. We had Eggs, Hashbrowns, and even Bacon; we were so excited. So I started cooking the bacon first, knowing it would take the longest. Then when I thought they were close to being done, Jeff started cooking the eggs and I threw on the hashbrowns. Well, needless to say, the eggs finished super fast and the others were not even close. And then to add more to my frustration the pan I was using for the hashbrowns was awful! Despite my many tablespoons of butter the entire thing was completely stuck! I switched pans in the middle to try to save them. In the meantime Jeff ate his eggs so they wouldn't get cold. I insisted on waiting so I could eat th...
