We ended up getting season passes to Marine World... i mean Six Flags Discovery Kingdom this past year. We took a trip down to Magic Mountain and a season pass cost the same as admission so we figured we might as well. Anyway, we didn't make it out there as much as I had hopped, but enough to make it worth it. When I found out that they did a special "Holiday in the Park" in December I thought it would be fun to get one last bang for our buck. So one Saturday we made the venture out and spent the day there.
It was a blast. They had all decked out in Christmas decor and lights. P especially loved the jumbo candy canes.

We checked out the Walrus exhibit for the first time. It was closed every other time we went. The kids LOVED it. There was one right against the glass. He and Em has some sort of special connection. They stared at each other like this for at least 10-15 minutes.

They were even eye to eye for a little while. To be honest, it kind of scarred me, but they loved it. lol.

When I finally convinced them to move on and let the other kids see, the walrus followed us. Oops, sorry kids, I guess he really liked Em. He also kept clapping his fins. It was so loud. It was an awesome and memorable walrus encounter. p.s. I knew they were big but I didn't remember they were THAT big. They seemed like Whales to me.
Later we found a little snow mound. The kids had fun re-learning what snow is. We walked on it, picked it up, and thew it. It was cold and wet, as snow generally is, but they loved it!

The only rides the kids wanted to do were the train, carousel, and the ball house. They really loved that ball house I think we did it 4 times. It is a big two leveled house/arena where you can throw these soft foam balls at people. They even have little guns that you can shoot. You can climb, slid, and just go crazy for 10 minutes then they kick you out and let the next group in. Both the kids loved it and were surprisingly patient as we waited.

Both the kids loved it and were surprisingly patient as we waited. Then again, pretzels are miracle workers.

We also made it to our favorite show, the sea lions.
We had lots of fun. It was an awesome family day, so glad we went.

p.s. why do I feel like I'm the only one who's attempts at family pictures never work? lol. O-well.
