I Read A BOOK!

For those of you who don't know, I am not a reader. I never have been, but I have hopes of becoming one someday. Anyway, some friends of my recently started a book club and I decided I was going to be a part of it. When I told my husband and parents about this they all said, "You ... a book club?" I am so serious when I say I am NOT a reader! The only books I have ever read have either been church or school related (or more recently children's books, I read DOZENS of those a day!). This was my first book that was just for fun! I never thought reading was fun, it was always a chore to me. But I have had a change of heart because I REALLY want my children to love reading and most studies show that they are more likely to love reading if their parents love reading. Plus it is something I can do for me, a night out once a month to visit with some friends and discover me again.

So TA DA!! Book 1 = complete!

Can I just tell you, I am so proud of myself. And I read it in 2 days. And even more shocking ... I LOVED IT!! Yest you heard right, Rebecca just said she loved and even enjoyed reading a book!

As you can see, this book is called The Wednesday Letters. Seriously, I loved it!

(The above was from the website for the book, they gave the recap WAY better then I was writing it :)

Anyway, I loved it and I am excited to read the next book! I never thought I would say those words! LOL. So if you haven't read it, I would highly recommend it! I think the reason I love it is because it is all about relationships and making them work. As you probably know, I am a HUGE advocate for the family and living in a society where the family is meaning less and less and people give up on marriages so quickly ... I just really value what the book had to say. I love marriage! I believe in marriage. I know marriage is a lot of work, but it is the best!

Anyway, READ IT! And Yay to me for reading it!

That is so funny-- you strike me as one who would enjoy reading! I'm glad you found a book you like, I might have to give it a try!

That was our book club's book this month too! I hated it. I felt like it was such a waste of time to read. The author was driving me nuts with the way he tried to make everything so dramatic. I am glad you enjoyed reading it though. You should try The Help.

I'm glad you're in the club!! Too bad you couldnt stay later. I actually really disliked the book, but am glad you liked it so that you will stick with reading and keep coming!! :)
Oh yay! I will check this book out! I've never been the biggest fan of reading, but I got really into it a few months ago with THE HUNGER GAMES (which you should totally read, it's crazy good). Now I like HAVE to have a book to read at all times. If I am not reading a book it feels weird.

I read that book a few years ago and loved it too! Only it took me a bit longer than 2 days. I talked it up so much Dan wanted to read it, and he probably had it done in a day...meany... and loved it too. What a powerful message! I cried at the end, which doesn't usually happen. Thanks for reminding me of it! You make me want to read it again!

What to pack . . .

So now that he really could come ANY DAY I figured it was probably time for me to pack my bag. I of course have one of those "What to bring" checklist, but I was wondering what your thoughts where. Is there anything you wish you had brought but didn't? Is there anything you would have died without if you hadn't brought it? I'm just so clueless! A few tips from you experienced mothers would be greatly appreciated!! I cant believe it is so close!!

Have you noticed?

I need a haircut ASAP! This is me saying, "I'll smile if you ignore my hair." Don't get me wrong, I am really excited I have long hair, I love having long hair , but it needs a little TLC. It has been a few months since I have even got a trim and I am still re-couping from a not so good hair cut. The last few times I have really CUT my hair, not just a trim, I was not pleased with the results. Now it would probably help if I was willing to pay more than $10 for a hair cut . . . but I'm Mrs. High Pockets as my father calls me and it is really hard for me to spend money on my hair. So I need your help! What do you think I should do? Before you make any suggestions you should know: It MUST be able to go back into a ponytail!!!!!!! My hair is STICK STRAIGHT My hair will not curl to save my life (via over night curls, hot curls, even curling irons, they just don't work) I want and need something EASY! I do not like to spend time on my hair and I don...

No Use Crying Over Spilled Milk . . .

So being an emotional pregnant woman is definitely taking its tole on both me and Jeff (what a wonderful, patient, and understanding man he is). Saturday morning I was so excited because for the first time in weeks we actually had a morning together. I had planned to make us a delicious breakfast just like my dad always did for me. We had Eggs, Hashbrowns, and even Bacon; we were so excited. So I started cooking the bacon first, knowing it would take the longest. Then when I thought they were close to being done, Jeff started cooking the eggs and I threw on the hashbrowns. Well, needless to say, the eggs finished super fast and the others were not even close. And then to add more to my frustration the pan I was using for the hashbrowns was awful! Despite my many tablespoons of butter the entire thing was completely stuck! I switched pans in the middle to try to save them. In the meantime Jeff ate his eggs so they wouldn't get cold. I insisted on waiting so I could eat th...
