THIRD TRIMESTER . . . WHAT!!!

Since the day I found out I was pregnant I signed up to receive weekly emails that update you on what is happening with you and your baby. It tells you approximately how big the baby is and what is developing that week. It also is very informative to what changes, and challenges you can expect to experience that week. I get so excited every Sunday when the email comes and I open it right away. As I was reading this week, this is what I found:"Since you have entered the third trimester," I stopped immediately right then. Is that real? Am I truly in my Third Trimester? HOLY COW! I was shocked. Not that that is a bad thing, of course not, it is a great thing, I'm that much closer to meeting my first child!! However, I must admit that I was filled with shock and anxiety all at the same time!

I have been blessed with such an amazing pregnancy, (and I pray that all my pregnancies to follow are just as great) the time has just flown by! Everyone kept saying, it will get slower, much slower, and I'm sure as I continue to grow and get more and more uncomfortable that this is probably true. But so far it is flying by! Something I am excited about and scared to death about all at the same time. Am I truly ready to be a mother?

I mean really, think about your mother and how amazing she is, and all she does for you; am I really ready and capable of doing that? It seems so daunting. All of my friends, even those that are mothers already, affirm that I will be fine, especially since I majored in "MOM" as they say. But let me tell you, writing papers, giving presentations, and taking tests on various topics regarding home and family are VERY different than actual experience in apply them. Although I like to think I am ready, are we every really ready? Even people who have been parents for years still say they are continuing to learn. I guess this is where I will truly learn to trust in the Lord and plead with Him everyday for help and guidance in raising His precious child. I know He will strengthen me, and guide me, but wow. Parenthood . . . the most noble and important of callings . . . is just a few weeks away.

I know this will sound weird, but i figure that if you're able to step back and think about the reality and the ammount of effort you'll need to put in to your child is the first great step to being a great parent.

It's hard to see young mom's and dads in situations where they think everything will be easy and carefree, and they can still go out and party etc. but it's not, it's a big responsibility and to recognize that is a big acomplishment in it's self!

You both will be just fine parents, never hesitate to ask questions, even if they might seem silly.
Wow Rebecca, I Can't believe its already your 3rd trimester!! Are you guys still in Provo? I hope everything goes well for you in your last few month of pregnancy, what an exciting time of life for your guys! Keep in touch!

Yay!! Third trimester! I'm so excited for you! And I wouldn't worry too much about being a good mom. Yes, it is a LOT of work, but remember we as women are fulfilling a divine role as mothers, and are blessed with many of the qualities we need to be good moms. So most things come pretty naturally :)

The Light of the World

I was asked to give a talk yesterday in church.  Kinda daunting knowing it was Christmas Sunday, but I think it went pretty well.  I like remembering my talk so I'm throwing it up here mainly for my own record.  But maybe it will bless the lives of others too.  I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and that the Light of Christ will be upon you and radiate from you now and forever. Jesus Christ: The Light of the World Rebecca’s talk given on 12/20/2015 Jesus Christ.  Can a topic be any broader? I have spent a lot of time over the last 6 weeks trying to decide what direction I wanted to go and I kept going back to the same thought, Jesus is the light of the world.  This is not an insignificant statement, but very profound and very important.  Let’s start from the beginning. Many Prophets have testified of the fact that Jesus Christ is the light of the world long before the Savior was even born.  The very first sign of his bir...

Because God Love's Us

How is Christ’s Birth Significant to me Talk on 12/20/2020 Good Morning Brothers and Sisters & Merry Christmas!   Heavenly Father must know my preferred method for giving a talk is procrastinating because I have been called to fill in last minute on many occasions.   However, this is the first time it’s happened on Christmas Sunday.   But I am happy to be here with you and I’m so grateful for technology that allows us to meet and worship together, especially during this Christmas season.   I’m not gonna lie, this is weird speaking on zoom.   I much prefer being together and making eye contact with you and seeing your encouraging smiles.   So please bear with any awkwardness I may have.   When initially asked to speak, Brother Smith gave me the topic of “How Christ’s birth is significant to me.”   My initial response was, could that topic be any broader?   But then gratefully he followed it up with “Particularly from the prosp...

Kid's Talks

Riley’s Primary Talk on Baptism 3/15/20 Today I want to talk on Baptism.   Being baptized is a commandment from Heavenly Father.   We have to be baptized to make it back to Him.   Even Jesus Christ was baptized.   If Jesus Christ was baptized we should be baptized too.   When we turn 8 years old we can choose to follow Jesus Christ’s example and be baptized too.   When we are baptized and confirmed we become members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.     If you have already been baptized, you should remember the covenants, or promises you made.   If you have not been baptized, you should study and pray and keep the commandments so that when you turn 8 years old you will be ready. We should all remember how important baptism is.   I am really excited I get to be baptized next year.   In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen Faith Parker’s Talk   2/16/20   Today, my talk is going to be about f...
