Sad Face

Well, yesterday was the last day of the first part of our lives. I know that sounds kind of weird so let me explain. Jeff and I have been one of the luckiest couples in the world. We had the opportunity to spend the first 4 years of our marriage together all the time. I know you must be thinking, well that isn't really possible to be together all the time and I guess it really wasn't ALL the time, but truly most of the time. While we were both in school we were so blessed to not have to work full time, so the only times we were apart were when we were in class. Once we became RAs that took care of our biggest expense, rent, and aside from that we lived off what we made over the summers when we would work full time. But even then, we were both working 8-5 jobs so it was no big deal.

Today Jeff started work and lets just say we will be making up for lost time. For those of you who don't know, he will be working for Ernst & Young and huge accounting firm and they are going to work the poor guy to the bone. And even though today was his first day they flew him down to LA for training, so tonight (and for the next week) I am a lone woman for the first time in a LONG LONG LONG time. Right now it isn't a big deal because I still have PLENTY of things I need to do, but I know the second I climb into bed I will get very sad.

Now please don't get me wrong, I do realize how very blessed we are. I have so many friends who have also recently graduated and don't have a job coming straight out of school so I am VERY VERY grateful that we have one. Just knowing that he is going to be working such crazy hours makes me so sad, especially since we will go from seeing each other literally 24-7 (Jeff didn't have a job this summer so we really were together all the time) to seeing him just in time to go to bed. Now I hope and pray that it wont be that bad but I expecting the worst so that just maybe it wont be as bad as I had imagined; only time will tell.

I worry about a lot of things now, things I never really thought I would worry about. Like how this will affect our relationship. I like to think it wont do anything especially since we have been best friends for about 12 years but it is going to be so different from how it has always been so it must affect it in someway. Maybe it will make us cherish each other more since we will see each other less? Who knows. I also feel sad for the kids, they wont get to play with daddy as much as we would like. Just today alone P-man asked for daddy many many times. He misses him already. I guess that is one reason why it is good we are "Paying our dues" while the kids are still so young. Hopefully by the time they get older and Jeff is more established in his career he will be able to be more involved. In the mean time I am SOOOO glad we are around so much family that we can go to for extra love and support, especially on those lonely days.

So HELLO real world, here we are; please be good to us. And Hello EY, we are your slaves for the next few years, please be good to us too.

I feel for you. Just remember that when Jeff is gone, it's likely that Brian is too and then call me and we'll hang.

Here's an article Brian sent me. It pretty much describes in the worst possible way what to expect. Just be glad Jeff isn't at Deloitte.

I feel some of your pain! Today is James' first real day at his job and it could possible be a 16 hour day. It makes me so sad too. It's always so much better and more fun when daddy is around!! I hope everything goes smoothly for you the next week. Too bad we're so far away, we could do play dates!

Good luck Bec! If there's anything I know about you, it's that you work hard and then you play hard! So I'm sure things will work out and even when it gets tough you will still know where your priorities are and where your strength comes from! You're always a great example to me, and I'll be sending some prayers your way. :)

I wish you all the luck and I know you guys will adjust great. It's times like these that I will share a sad face with P and say I wish you were back here because now I'm home and we could hang out... :( But I know you have lots of friends and family there to help the days go by quickly. Maybe it's time to get P and Em on an earlier sleep schedule so they go to bed shortly after daddy gets home so you guys have your own time too before you have to get up and do it all over again.

yep, I remember after Aaron and I got married and started his full time job, I was at home by myself a lot and I was really depressed. It's takes some time to adjust, but you do, I promise. Stay strong! Em looks so great! I'm so glad the kids are doing well. We're expecting our 2nd in March, too! So we're excited.

The Light of the World

I was asked to give a talk yesterday in church.  Kinda daunting knowing it was Christmas Sunday, but I think it went pretty well.  I like remembering my talk so I'm throwing it up here mainly for my own record.  But maybe it will bless the lives of others too.  I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and that the Light of Christ will be upon you and radiate from you now and forever. Jesus Christ: The Light of the World Rebecca’s talk given on 12/20/2015 Jesus Christ.  Can a topic be any broader? I have spent a lot of time over the last 6 weeks trying to decide what direction I wanted to go and I kept going back to the same thought, Jesus is the light of the world.  This is not an insignificant statement, but very profound and very important.  Let’s start from the beginning. Many Prophets have testified of the fact that Jesus Christ is the light of the world long before the Savior was even born.  The very first sign of his bir...

Because God Love's Us

How is Christ’s Birth Significant to me Talk on 12/20/2020 Good Morning Brothers and Sisters & Merry Christmas!   Heavenly Father must know my preferred method for giving a talk is procrastinating because I have been called to fill in last minute on many occasions.   However, this is the first time it’s happened on Christmas Sunday.   But I am happy to be here with you and I’m so grateful for technology that allows us to meet and worship together, especially during this Christmas season.   I’m not gonna lie, this is weird speaking on zoom.   I much prefer being together and making eye contact with you and seeing your encouraging smiles.   So please bear with any awkwardness I may have.   When initially asked to speak, Brother Smith gave me the topic of “How Christ’s birth is significant to me.”   My initial response was, could that topic be any broader?   But then gratefully he followed it up with “Particularly from the prosp...

Kid's Talks

Riley’s Primary Talk on Baptism 3/15/20 Today I want to talk on Baptism.   Being baptized is a commandment from Heavenly Father.   We have to be baptized to make it back to Him.   Even Jesus Christ was baptized.   If Jesus Christ was baptized we should be baptized too.   When we turn 8 years old we can choose to follow Jesus Christ’s example and be baptized too.   When we are baptized and confirmed we become members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.     If you have already been baptized, you should remember the covenants, or promises you made.   If you have not been baptized, you should study and pray and keep the commandments so that when you turn 8 years old you will be ready. We should all remember how important baptism is.   I am really excited I get to be baptized next year.   In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen Faith Parker’s Talk   2/16/20   Today, my talk is going to be about f...
