Starting Solids

So the P-Man is a little pig! After a few weeks of him not being satisfied with only milk & formula we decided to start solids. I debated for a long time, but finally came to the conclusion that he really needed it. I felt confident because he fit all of the recommendations. So here are some pictures of Parker's first experiences with Rice Cereal. Ready to go! First bite . . . Hey, that's pretty good, I want more! I'm not so sure about that second bite . . . He took it pretty well the first day, and did a lot more spitting out the second day. Now he is taking it pretty good, but is still trying to get the hang of swallowing. He seems to like it for the most part, he especially enjoys playing with the spoon. We really need to be more consistent with feeding him, but going from one house to the next makes keeping a schedule pretty hard. It will be nice when we get back to Utah so I can get him on a real schedule and routine. But I'm excited to see how he tak...

My New Hobby

(Not too bad for my first Basket-weave) I have always wanted to learn how to decorate cakes. It always looked so fun to me and I have always wanted to be able to make awesome birthday cakes for my kids. I have also been hooked on Ace of Cakes and The Food Network Challenge which made me even more excited about learning how to decorate myself. Now that I have a child, all of my time and energy is spent on him, which is wonderful but I really wanted a break and to do something for me. I know, sounds selfish, but since he was born I have not really done anything for myself so this was something I needed to do as I'm sure all you other mom's understand. So since I conveniently have 2 sets of grandparents that are more then welcome to Watch the P-man for a couple of hours, I decided to take advantage of it and take some Cake decorating classes. It has been a BLAST!! I am so glad I have done it. I obviously still need LOTS of practice, but here are some samples of my first ...

Parker's Announcement

I know this is a little past due, but I thought you would like to see what Parker's announcement's looked like. I say announcements plural because I did order two different ones. You see the one above is my absolute favorite!! I made it on Sutterfly and had a $15 coupon so I figured I would just order them from there. However, after I did the calculations it would have been over $100 which is just absurd!! Especially since we are poor college students so I decided not to order them. But then, I liked them so much I wanted at least one for myself so I used the coupon to order the smallest amount which was 12 and it still cost me $20. This one below don't like nearly as much, but I was able to get 75 for only $20, clearly the better deal. So here are both for your pleasure. He is so stinking cute!

Jeff's Internship

Jeff started his internship about 4 weeks ago with Ernst & Young here in San Francisco. For those of you who don't know, this is the main reason we came back to CA for the summer. So far so good. Because he is an intern they give him all the work they don't want to do and he is actually still enjoying it which is a good sign! He picked the right major! Woo Hoo! I am relived and feel so lucky that he comes home from work happy because he loves what he is doing. It takes a certain brain to like accounting and Jeff apparently has it. We have good hopes for the future! Since we only have one year left we have been getting asked quite a bit what are plans are after school. Well, if all goes well with the internship, we are hoping they will give him a job offer. So for now we will just wait it out. And if they don't I'm still not too worried being that BYU is one of the best schools in the nation for accountancy and as a result people recruit like crazy from th...

It has been a while . . .

So I have definitely been slacking in the blog posts as of late. As a matter a fact, I just looked and have 6 unfinished posts! One of these days I will sit down and do a ton all at once, but for now here is a quick update. Parker is doing great! He is so stinking CUTE! Especially his little smile . . . man I love it!! I really need to post some pictures on here! Me and The P-Man (that is what we call him a lot of the time . . . . who knows where that came from! haha) just hang out all day long. We spend most of our days as Grandma and Grandpa Politis' which is always fun. And it is especially fun now because my sister Rachel and her hubby are home. She just LOVES Parker, but there again who doesn't! :) She LOVES being with him and is always wanting to hold him and play with him, she is a wonderful aunt! Here is a picture of the two of them. Life is great! And no worries . . . many more updates to come!

Diapers: and the winner is . . . .

We have been so blessed since Parker's arrival. We received many wonderful gifts and among those gifts were tons of diapers. Diapers for various brands including: Huggies Pampers Walmart - Parent's Choice Costco - Kirkland We received so many diapers in fact that I just bought our first box and Parker is now 4 months old! So to all of you who contributed to our diaper cause, THANK YOU!!! As a result of receiving so many different types of diapers, we were able to put them all to the test to find out which brand we liked best. And after trying literally hundreds of diapers for each brand we have finally reached a conclusion. . . Costco wins!! Although all the diapers failed/leaked at one point Kirkland had the fewest. And Lucky for us they are the cheapest too! I love Costco!! On a side note, sorry it has been so long since I have posted. Life is Great here in CA! We are having a blast and Parker is growing like a weed! He is now laughing, so as soon as we get it on tap...
