It's a ....

Well, today we had our 20 week ultrasound.
On our way!
I was looking forward to it for many reasons.  Mostly to make sure baby is growing and is healthy.  Big sigh of relief for that one.  It's been so weird not feeling the baby move this time around, so that ultrasound was very reassuring. We got a few good pics.  Is it just me or does that profile already look like a score baby?  The cheeks, the nose, the head that is not proportionate to the rest of the body. Haha!

When it came time to find out gender, we looked away.  Not because we were waiting until the birth like we did last time (which I loved by the way and would have totally done it again if Jeff would have let me), but we decided it would be fun to do a gender reveal party with our family and friends.  I found this awesome idea online, pinterest of course.  And I thought it would be perfect for our family.  I wanted to do something that the kids could be the ones to reveal it.  In this case, they were going to be the balloon poppers.

Awesome right?  I could just picture us all standing under the confetti as it fell and the kids just loving every minute of it.  So I ordered a jumbo balloon months ago and was all set.  The ultrasound tech was so cooperative and always told us when to look away (which is easier said than done!) and even printed up some pictures for us.  She discreetly put them in an envelope and sealed it.  I dropped of the envelop along with all the supplies to stuff the balloon to a friend and left her too it.

I couldn't find a black balloon and figured dark green would work
Luckily I had a super busy afternoon and didn't ave much time to think about it, but I was so excited for reveal time.  I tried to do a few things to make it fun and cute.  You know, actually put some of those pinterest ideas to use.  I found perfect plates, and one table cloth but the store was completely out of EVERY shade of blue.  :(  I decided I'd try and improvise and make it look fun using blue napkins.  Not ideal, but I think it worked.  At 4:30 all the friends and family arrived.  Since we were doing it right around dinner time we invited everyone for pizza.  Costco saved the day!

I made up a list of all the old wives tales and how they relate to this pregnancy.

We took a quick poll of who thought it was going to be a Girl

and who thought it was going to be a Boy.

And then it was time!  Unfortunately, the big balloon didn't work out.  Turns out that it wasn't dark enough and it was totally see through once it was blown up.  :(  Bummer.  But my sweet friend went through so much work transferring all the confetti from the jumbo balloon into 4 regular balloons.  This way we could each pop one.  Such a great idea!

Ready...

So I gave the kids pins so we could all pop on the count of three, sure enough before we even said "1" P's balloon popped!  I laughed, and then the rest of us followed suit.  And what was it you ask...

I see blue...

And this might have been my favorite part of the night, P's little victory dance.  He is so excited to have a little brother!

It was seriously so much fun finding out this way.  We feel so blessed being surrounded by so many friends and family who love and support us.  Despite the million things that went wrong today, nothing could bring me down.  It was such a fun and fabulous day!  Definitely one we will never forget!

And just to keep with past pregnancy tradition, here is the 20 week comparison collage.

The Light of the World

I was asked to give a talk yesterday in church.  Kinda daunting knowing it was Christmas Sunday, but I think it went pretty well.  I like remembering my talk so I'm throwing it up here mainly for my own record.  But maybe it will bless the lives of others too.  I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and that the Light of Christ will be upon you and radiate from you now and forever. Jesus Christ: The Light of the World Rebecca’s talk given on 12/20/2015 Jesus Christ.  Can a topic be any broader? I have spent a lot of time over the last 6 weeks trying to decide what direction I wanted to go and I kept going back to the same thought, Jesus is the light of the world.  This is not an insignificant statement, but very profound and very important.  Let’s start from the beginning. Many Prophets have testified of the fact that Jesus Christ is the light of the world long before the Savior was even born.  The very first sign of his bir...

Because God Love's Us

How is Christ’s Birth Significant to me Talk on 12/20/2020 Good Morning Brothers and Sisters & Merry Christmas!   Heavenly Father must know my preferred method for giving a talk is procrastinating because I have been called to fill in last minute on many occasions.   However, this is the first time it’s happened on Christmas Sunday.   But I am happy to be here with you and I’m so grateful for technology that allows us to meet and worship together, especially during this Christmas season.   I’m not gonna lie, this is weird speaking on zoom.   I much prefer being together and making eye contact with you and seeing your encouraging smiles.   So please bear with any awkwardness I may have.   When initially asked to speak, Brother Smith gave me the topic of “How Christ’s birth is significant to me.”   My initial response was, could that topic be any broader?   But then gratefully he followed it up with “Particularly from the prosp...

Kid's Talks

Riley’s Primary Talk on Baptism 3/15/20 Today I want to talk on Baptism.   Being baptized is a commandment from Heavenly Father.   We have to be baptized to make it back to Him.   Even Jesus Christ was baptized.   If Jesus Christ was baptized we should be baptized too.   When we turn 8 years old we can choose to follow Jesus Christ’s example and be baptized too.   When we are baptized and confirmed we become members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.     If you have already been baptized, you should remember the covenants, or promises you made.   If you have not been baptized, you should study and pray and keep the commandments so that when you turn 8 years old you will be ready. We should all remember how important baptism is.   I am really excited I get to be baptized next year.   In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen Faith Parker’s Talk   2/16/20   Today, my talk is going to be about f...
