So this actually posted before I had intended it to be so sorry about all the wordless pictures. So it seems you already know all about our last week in Pismo this year but I guess I'll write down a few highlights for journal's sake.
I was a little worried our week would be. You see, we had just spent a full week in WA, straight down to 3 days in Portland, OR for the family reunion and then left that one day early to drive straight down to Pismo that day. It was crazy and I truly thought about not going. But then I thought about how much the kids love it. And I thought about how much I love it. And I thought about being at home a week without my husband. It seemed foolish not to go, so we buckled up (literally) and went!
The previous weeks I found all this fun stuff to go take the kids and do, but I figured after 2 full weeks of going out and doing stuff it would be perfect to just relax and hang out and what better place to do that than the beach! We spent every day at the beach for as long as I would allow. The kids would have been totally content sleeping there too, the LOVED it! We did go cave exploring and rock climbing which they loved.
One day we went to Avila Beach which is only about 5 miles north. There we went to a little aquarium, played at the park, and then spent a few hours on that beach. The aquarium was very small, but still fun. The kids got to pet a starfish (both sides), a sea urchin, a crab, and a puffer shark. It was cool and entertained them probably for a whopping 15 minutes, but they still talked about it a lot. There is an awesome park right outside the aquarium. We had been there before, but the kids really loved it. It was a crowded day there, but the kids made some new friends and had a blast playing there for probably an hour. Then we headed to the beach (a 1 min walk from the park) and they played there for at least 3 more hours. And they really wanted to stay longer.
That was our only "outing" for the week. The rest of the time we played in our room, played lawn games, or played at the beach. It was just what the doctor ordered! A completely stress free week. I am so glad we were able to tag along! This time the partner was there so I was a little worried, but it was actually great meeting him. We had some awesome conversations and he made us feel very welcome on the trip which I was grateful for. We were once again sad that daddy had to miss out on all the fun, but enjoyed going out to eat with him every night. Someday we will have to go on an actual vacation down there and show daddy all of our favorite things to do.
We Love Pismo! Until next year... we hope. :)
